Cape Town’s Kidzpositive
choir: Heartsong Women’s Choir
choir location: Gabriola Island, BC, Canada
The Heartsong Women’s Choir performs a yearly benefit concert for Kidzpositive, based in Grootschur Hospital Cape Town. For more information, see www.kidzpositive.org.
I visited the Heartsong web site, having been led there by the Gettin’ Higher Choir news letter. I was a member of GHC for many years. I just wanted to let you know that if your choir wanted anything (in my suitcase) delivered personally to the kidspositive organization, I will be going to Cape Town (where I grew up) at the beginning of April.
Namaste,
Jenny
My mother, now 98, went to the same school, St Cyprian’s in Cape Town, South Africa, as the girl who started the Beadwork Project as part of Kidzpositive.
5 years ago my mother wanted to support work with HIV/AIDS and an old family friend, a pediatrician at Groots Schoor Hospital, recommended Kidzpositive. Only then did we discover the St. Cyprian’s link.
Since then my mother has been getting local groups, mostly other Seniors on this small island off the west coast of Canada, to contribute their small change – “Cents for Kids” she called it.
Heartsong Women’s Choir chose Kidzpositive to benefit from the proceeds of their annual concert, and have a Bank Account open for year-round contributions from other Gabriola residents.
I am impressed with the low-key and highly effective way the Kidzpositive staff support individual children and families, and spread information and training to other health professionals.
